“Like” Our Page and Our Participants Get Cell Phones With Airtime!

Inspired by our recent promotion to get Facebook “likes”, Corporate Purchasing Solutions, a 911 Cell Phone Bank corporate partner, volunteered to donate 1 minute of cell phone airtime for every person who “likes” our Facebook page. This will enable us to expand our program offering to include phones with airtime.

This new program, currently in development, will provide cell phones with regular monthly airtime. If you would like more information on how you can get involved please call your 911 Cell Phone Bank representative at 866-290-7864.

We recently posted the 2009 Form 990 for The Charitable Recycling Foundation, Inc. for public review. If you have ny questions please contact us. You can also find the link at the bottom of each www.911CellPhoneBank.org web page. Work continues on an annual report however, because of thin resources, there is no firm completion date.

Ross County Sheriff’s Office thanks Sprint

Community Policing Officer Dave Weber, of the Ross County Sheriff’s Office, Chillicothe, OH would like to send out a great big “Thank You” to the Sprint store located at 1230 North Bridge Street, Chillicothe, which is under the management of Blair Miller.

Officer Weber has been collecting old/unused cell phones to benefit the Ross County Triad members as well as for their community (anybody in need of an emergency phone). It gave me great pleasure to contact Officer Weber and tell him what an outstanding job he had done in February. The Ross County Sheriff’s Office collected enough phones that month to put them in the “top 10”. He said, “we had help from a large donation that was given to us by one of our local Sprint stores. I want to personally thank “Matt” for all his help, and, of course, we especially want to thank the entire community for their generosity and countless donations.”

Bay St. Louis Police Department is a Winner at Our Table

The Bay St. Louis Police Department has been participating in the 911 Cell Phone Bank program for about a year and a half and has done an outstanding job with their program. Just recently Community Policing Officer Duane Caughlin has taken over as the new point of contact for the 911 CPB program and has done some wonderful things already. He recently made contact with the Casinos all along the gulf coast of Mississippi and has had a very good response. He simply asked for the lost and found/unclaimed cell phones. Once he let them know what they were going to be used for, they gladly turned the phones over to him. In addition, he has also been collecting the old unwanted/unused cell phones from the general public. The funds that are generated from their collection are used to help fund their Explorer’s program as well as their seniors and crime victims with their necessities.

Officer Caughlin attended the Crime Stoppers Convention that was held January 13 – 15, 2010 at the Imperial Palace Casino in Biloxi, MS. During the convention he was able to share information about the 911 Cell Phone Bank with the Sheriffs from multiple counties, Police Departments, and even some of the U.S. Marshalls. This event was open for the State, County and Federal levels only. He really got the word out there and it was well received. We really want to thank him for his tireless efforts he has demonstrated with our program. This is just some of the things he has done that I wanted to share with you to help you out with your collection efforts. It only takes making a first step. Thank you again Officer Caughlin and a big thank you to the entire community of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi.

Elder Appreciation Day October 17th

The Lincoln County Triad will be hosting their 9^th Annual Senior Appreciation Day at the Boothbay Region Elementary School on Saturday, October 17, 2009 from 10 am to 2 pm. Senior Appreciation Day is an opportunity to meet the Lincoln County seniors who have contributed and continue to contribute to making Lincoln County the best community to live in. This will be a fun-filled day with entertainment, food, and prizes galore. There will be multiple exhibitors with information about new programs, products, and services. The Health and Wellness programs will once again be available to help and inform. Best of all, it’s free! Pick up your free File of Life packets and free 911 cell phones. LCT collects used, outdated, nonworking cell phones for recycling. In exchange, they receive reconditioned emergency phones from the 911 Cell Phone Bank which are handed out free to seniors.

Strike Out the Violence

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the Southern Nevada Domestic Violence Task Force and the Shade Tree Shelter/Noah’s Animal House have joined forces to “strike out the violence”. On October 3, 2009 from 12 noon until 3:00pm they will be sponsoring a bowl-a-thon at the Suncoast Bowling Lanes, located at 9090 Alta Drive Las Vegas, Nevada.

Please bring your old cell phones and receive a raffle ticket for every phone you turn in. Please go to www.noahsanimalhouse.org and click on “donations” to see Noah’s Animal House wish list. For each item you bring, you will receive a raffle ticket for that as well. There will be a silent auction, raffle items and of course top prizes for the top scoring bowlers and much, much more! Donation of all kinds are encouraged and accepted.

RT 46 Contest Winner – Osceola County Sheriff’s Office

Congratulations to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office. They sent in 835 cell phones in August and won the $50 RT 46 Gift Certificate! The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office has been a law enforcement partner for several years and we’re glad we could give them a little reward for their hard work!

New Partnership With The Chicago Childrens Advocacy Center Announced

The 911 Cell Phone Bank is proud to announce the new partnership between the Chicago Childrens Advocacy Center and the Cook County Sheriff’s Office. This partnership came about as a result of the efforts of US Cellular Corporation, a corporate partner since 2003, and the Cook County Sheriff’s office. This partnership will allow the Center to collect and receive 911 emergency phones while still remaining confidential in nature. The residents of Chicago and Cook County will now have an additional resource in their efforts to provide emergency communication to those in need and also responsibly recycle old and unwanted cell phones for which there is no further use. Anyone wishing to contribute phones to this cause can do so through any drop off location listed under “Cook County” on our website using the tab for “Drop Off Locations”, or any US Cellular retail location.

Flagler County Sexual Assault Task Force is Collecting School Supplies

We don’t want to forget about our youngsters returning to school this year. If you would like to lend a helping hand please contact one Debra Johnson, the Public Information Officer for Flagler County Sheriff’s office at 386-586-4814. The Task Force is currently collecting school supplies for at-risk families in Flagler County, Florida.

Donations of all sorts will be accepted which include some of the following: crayons, backpacks, rulers, scissors, tape, notebooks and erasers.

You can take your donation to any of the locations listed below:

Flagler County Sheriff’s Operations Center at 1001 Justice Lane in Bunnell; the Sheriff’s Office’s Robert E.
