This comes from the City of Chesapeake (VA) Sheriff’s Office. In order for the city populace to be aware of all the programs of service which are supported by the Sheriff’s Office,  Sheriff John Newhart and Chief Deputy, Lt.  Col.  Jim O’Sullivan, established  a Face Book page for the purposes of publicizing the Department’s  community involvement. It wasn’t long before they noticed an increase in the number of cell phones donated to the program and a Sheriff’s spokesman feels that the increase can be directly related to an awareness of the need for recycled phones and the benefits derived from the donation itself.
If your organization has such a page on any of the networking websites, we would recommend that you consider this an additional source of local advertising. It certainly can’t hurt.
